1×2 Network Granted License To Provide Games in Ontario

The latest addition to the roster of game suppliers licensed to provide content to gambling operators in Ontario’s newly regulated market is 1×2 Network.

News of 1×2’s successful license application was announced this week with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) providing approval.

The network includes games from both 1×2 Gaming and their partner, Iron Dog Studios. Their games will now be Ontarians through any of the licensed casinos and sportsbooks now operational in the province who have deals with the 1×2 Network.

High profile casino brands already live in the market include 888 Casino, LeoVegas, DraftKings casino, and the newly formed NorthStar Bets.

Highlights of the 1×2 Gaming and Iron Dog catalogues include some popular Canada online slots like Wolf Strike, Phoenix Inferno, Battle Maidens, Battle Maidens Cleopatra and Book of Ba’al. There will also be a small selection of table games from the two developers.

Rory Kimber, Account Management and Marketing Director at 1×2 Network, believes that Ontario can be one of the largest of the new North American gambling markets, making the decision to apply for a license there an easy one.

This is not 1×2 Network’s first step into Canada as they are already partnered with Loto-Quebec for whom they provide slots on the lottery and games portal in the province. Kimber believes that this experience will give the supplier a strong start in Ontario as they already understand how to ‘engage, entertain and excite players’ with content that appeals to their tastes.

As they prepare to go live, the Kimber said: “It is great to see that some of the biggest brands in the market are planning to integrate our content into their game lobbies, and we look forward to seeing players in Ontario enjoy the thrilling experience that each title has to offer.”

Expansion into Ontario is just one part of the 1×2 strategy to secure licenses across all the major gambling jurisdictions globally. So far they are licensed in the UK, Malta, Gibraltar, Sweden, Spain, Colombia, Greece, Romania and Italy.

ONTARIO MARKET SO FAR …

1×2 Gaming is entering a new market with big expectations within the industry.

A new era of regulation for online gambling in Ontario kicked off on April 4th 2022 and there are now 24 websites licensed and operational in the province. Big names have joined and many more are expected over the course of the year, including white label specialists from Europe like White Hat Gaming – Dream Vegas and Skol Casino – and Skill on Net – Play OJO and Slots Magic.

Whilst there have been no official revenue stats published yet, a government auditor has forecast tax revenues of $75 million over the next three years based on a 20% gross gaming revenue tax in the province.

Gambling operators in Ontario are working under strict marketing rules that prevent the use of free bets to entice new customers and two brands have already been penalised for breaking those rules. But this is not putting off new applicants from entering the licensing process and all signs are that Ontario will be a highly competitive market which is great news for real money casino gambles there.
